Setup a network with connections to only selected clients

If you want to limit interaction of your PowerFolder clients with the Internet, you can easily limit the connections by:

  • Turning PowerFolder into LAN only mode. You can do so under Preferences/Network. This disables all interaction with the Internet except the search for PowerFolder updates.
  • Disabling the search for updates under Preferences/Dialogs. Now PowerFolder is not connecting to the Internet at all.

And if you want to allow connections to fixed IPs only you need to enable the advanced settings under Preferences/General after this you can add IPs by:

  • Enter the fix IPs of the computers you want to connect to in the LAN-IP-List under Preferences/Advanced. The IPs on this list are now the only ones which PowerFolder interacts with outside of the LAN.

Some of our customers are using this scenario to sync multiple servers across the world. They have setup this to make it impossible, to access PowerFolder from remote locations, when running in LAN only mode.
