Security

We take security seriously. Therefore we have added the following features:

  • All file transfers can be encrypted with PowerFolder Pro.
  • PowerFolder separates the computer/IP finding process from the file transfer process.
  • Every folder needs an Invitation, which contains a secret key, to access the data.
  • Every computer has a world-wide unique ID and private RSA key (PRO only). If somebody else tries to join a folder, you get warned even if he has same name as a friendly computer.
  • PowerFolder is able to run without a permanently open port (with relayed and router piercing connections). This gives you the security that no ports are left open after you close PowerFolder, and that while PowerFolder is running the ports are being used.
  • By setting PowerFolder to the LAN only networking mode and adding all computers to the LAN IP list (works only with fixed IPs or within a VPN) PowerFolder restricts the connections to LAN IPs only.
