Connections:

Possible options

LAN only

PowerFolder will not connect to the Internet but you still can add Fixed IPs on the Internet. If you do so PowerFolder will only connect to computers on the LAN and the selected computers. This setup has been chosen multiple times by highly professional administrators to make sure that nobody can access the PowerFolder network from outside the company's LAN (even if he has all data necessary to do so).

LAN & Internet

The default setting which is recommended for standard use. Other users can be found on LAN or Internet.

Use Relayed connections:

This setting makes it possible to use PowerFolder without configuring your router and firewall, but requires a connection to our server. Both nodes need to have relayed connection activated to make it work. Routers and firewalls allow outgoing connections and responses from the computer which was contacted. The relayed connection is established from both sides to our server. The server connects both computers and makes it possible to transfer data even if no incoming connections are allowed.

Use NAT traversal:

This setting makes it possible to use PowerFolder without configure your router and firewall.

Dynamic IP:

Setting

Inet speed

This setting is really important to PowerFolder. Make sure that the values you select here correct. If you are not sure, it is better to select a lower connection setting. PowerFolder will throttle the data exchange and the network information sent by this setting. If you select a value that is too high, PowerFolder will not work correctly and your Upload/Download values will drop significantly. Unlimited is only for networks that are faster than T3.

Lan speed

The speed of your LAN can be unlimited

Silent-mode:

If you activate PowerFolder into silent mode this value says how much of the standard bandwidth PowerFolder will take.
